1. Five benefits offered by the spa in Turčianske Teplice

Tradition and location – Spa in Turčianske Teplice belongs to the oldest Slovak spas with unique location – it is situated directly on a tectonic fracture, so-called piscina – directly on a thermal mineral water spring.

Unique healing thermal mineral water from Turčianske Teplice has a high content of minerals (sulphides, bicarbonates, calcium, magnesium, iron and other) and it has provable healing effects musculoskeletal diseases, urological, nervous and gynaecological diseases. The total content of minerals - 1,524 mg/l - is one of the highest contents out of all waters, not only in Slovakia.

Modernisation – we invested significant resources in increasing the health care standard, as well as in accommodation and gastronomy in the Spa in Turčianske Teplice.

Qualified services – helpful and professionally trained staff offers a wide spectre of spa services.
Beautiful surroundings – the surroundings of Turčianske Teplice and the whole region of Turiec offer varied opportunities for active leisure activities throughout the whole year.

2. Who are our clients

Policyholders in indication group “A”

Healthcare (medical examination, treatment procedures), accommodation and board is fully covered by public health insurance.

With reference to Act No. 268/2014 amending and supplementing Act No. 582/2004 Coll., from 15 October 2014 we shall be obligated to collect accommodation tax from temporary accommodation provided for fee. The current sum of accommodation tax according to VZN decree of the town of Turčianske Teplice in force shall be 1€ per person and night. With effect from 24 October 2014, we cut the spa fee from 1€ per person and night to 0.05 € per person and night (including VAT).
A patient bears his or her costs of travel to the spa facility himself or herself.

A patient pays a service fee amounting to 1.66€ per every night in the spa.

Who is exempt from the service fee?

In the “A” indication group – holders of silver/ gold/ diamond Jánsky plaque

Deprived patients only pay the fee for the first 3 nights of their stay. They must submit a decision on social assistance benefit by the competent office issued according to a special regulation.

Policyholders – in indication group “B”

Healthcare (medical examination, treatment procedures) is fully covered with public health insurance, and services (board and accommodation) are not covered by the health insurance, but the patient must pay it himself/ herself.

5. How to arrange for a proposal for spa treatment

Proposal for spa treatment

You as a patient must ask for the spa treatment yourself. If you would like a health insurance company to cover your spa treatment, we recommend to have your proposal for the spa treatment prepared by your general practitioner or a specialist.

Medical examination

Clinical and laboratory examinations not older than three months shall be attached to the proposal for the spa treatment. The indication list specifies the examinations that a patient must undergo.

Patients over 70 years of age must attach the results of basic examinations plus internal examination.

Delivering the proposal for spa treatment

The complete proposal shall be delivered to your health insurance company personally or by mail for consideration by their review physician, and then they will either approve or deny it.

Approval of the spa treatment

In case the “A” indication has been approved for you, the proposal for spa treatment will be sent to the selected spa and your health insurance company will inform you about the approval of the spa treatment to you email address.

In case the “B” indication has been approved for you, you will receive the proposal and the list of spas, in which you can take the spa treatment.

Length of stay

The length of stay is defined in the indication list for spa treatment in the Slovak Republic.

6. What examinations must be undergone before the check-in?

Your general practitioner must issue a confirmation that you can take a spa treatment not later than 14 days before checking in for the spa treatment

7. Do not forget to bring

Health insurance card, identity card
Spa treatment approval by your health insurance company
Invitation for spa treatment by the spa
Confirmation of your current health condition by your physician not more than 14 days old in order to exclude any possible contraindications. The confirmation should be submitted to the attending physician during the initial examination.
Medical devices and medicines you use regularly (sufficient amount for the whole stay).

8. Who does set the treatment programme in the spa?

Complete treatment programme is set individually for every client by our specialist doctor based on initial medical examination and current health condition.

A team of physicians experienced in several medical fields work in the Spa Turčianske Teplice. They are ready to help clients choose procedures suitable for their current health condition and for treatment of their health problems or for prevention. Experienced physiotherapists, masseurs and balneotherapy employees take care of clients in individual facilities.

9. Who is entitled for an assistant?

A review physician of the respective health insurance company can approve an assistant for the whole stay.

An assistant pays EUR 3.32 per one day of a stay for services specified in section 38 (3)(f) of law unless the policyholder is exempt from the payment obligation according to section 38 (8) (f) of Act No. 577/2004 Coll.
